St. Catharines, Shun! by Scribe of N.B.

5 August 1932

Watch Guy Bannerman perform St. Catharines, Shun!

On Saturday next, we’ll be privileged to see,
The men who make Empire, so let us all be—
Ready and eager, to welcome these guests,
To our hospitality, St. Catharines’ best.

They have come a long way, British, Irish, Hindoos,
To help us to conquer, depression and blues,
So get out your flags, and wave them on high,
And let’s give them something, to remember us by.

All our stores must co-operate, their bunting to display,
And second story windows, flying Empire flags so gay.
As these heroes of Commerce, from the Empire’s far domain
Mingle here awhile among us, a great honor WE attain.

We are proud to have them with us, and are glad to let them know
That the Garden City’s people, are as loyal as they go.
And we hope that some little thing may happen to them here
To strengthen Empire friendship, something we hold very dear.
